If you want to build your prospect and customer list, you need to be on top of your marketing game. Most business owners are great in their business but have no idea how to get more new customers into their place of business. If this describes you, then I know exactly how you feel.

You see, when I first started marketing my offline business, I used nothing except direct mail marketing. This was when the price of a stamp and letter was low, and direct mail marketing was still hot at the time. Yet despite all of these things, I still wound up wasting thousands of thousands in messing with direct mail alone.

I don’t suggest you go down this route. If I could do it all over again, I would have probably generated a lead first and followed up on these people with the rest of my sales presentation. But, I think this is the best way to do it, and it’s how I run my business today.

Why do I mention all of this to you? Because I don’t want you to go down the same path that I went down. There are many profitable ways to make money in your business, and you don’t have to stick with one method. For example, although I started with direct mail, I had other viable options such as newspaper advertising, classified advertising, or joint venture marketing. But I didn’t use any of these things.

If you’re wondering what’s the fastest way to get new customers into your doors, then I think you will benefit from the advice here in this article. In my personal opinion, the fastest way to get more new customers is by advertising. Sure, you can go into a phone book and randomly select names from there, but you more than likely won’t see any good results from this approach.

If you were to run an ad and structure the entire ad around a free offer, then I think this is the best way to go about marketing your business. With leads, you have a group of people that you can sell to. And the longer you continue to market to these groups of people, the more money you will stand to make.

So what kind of advertising am I talking about? Well, I’m talking about running a display ad in the newspaper, in a section where your target market is most likely to read. Offer something for free, and make this the prime objective of your ad. Then, once you’ve put together a good ad, be sure to run it, and let your prospects be able to contact you via phone or your website.

When getting them to respond via phone, lead them to a 24-hour free recorded message. All you want to do here is to briefly explain the free offer and tell them to leave their name and address so that you can follow up on them. This is the easiest and fastest way to make money in your business.

How to drum up new business for your company?

Some people will even buy from you just for the free help alone. Trust me, I’ve seen this happen before. So if your product is stellar, then you can expect people to praise you along with asking you a lot of questions about your product.

When giving something away for free, make sure that the item you’re giving away is just as valuable as the core product itself. This is how you can make it a no-brainer when it comes to successfully selling your products and services.

At the end of the day, these two marketing strategies can help to boost your business. I highly suggest you start using these tips right away in your business. Even if you think they won’t work for you, try them out anyway to see if you can benefit from them. You never know when something will work for you.

When should you say “yes” or “no” to customers?

So how’s your business doing in today’s economy? I know for a fact that my business took a hit, but what about yours? Well, if you’re like most business owners, you had to go above and beyond just to get the prospects to come your way. I know how this feels, and if you feel exhausted from your marketing efforts, know that I have also been through the same thing.

With that being said, despite the economy… you do have to take some accountability with your marketing and advertising. You need to keep track of how many sales you’re getting, how many new leads do you have coming through, and how to proceed with an aggressive backend marketing strategy.

This is where I started my thinking, and it’s something that I would like to pass on to you. If you’re thinking about hiring a marketing agency, I think you should reconsider this idea before you do so. Most business owners don’t get the results that they’d hoped for, and this makes the idea of using a marketing agency undesirable. The good news is that you don’t have to hire a marketing agency to do your marketing for you – you can do it yourself.

I want to share with you a quick lesson about what I learned in my previous occupation. Here’s something that I advise:

Know what you can and cannot do

Before I started my business, I used to work as an IT technician for a large corporation, and when I first started, I took on a variety of tasks outside of my area of expertise. In short, I told everybody “yes.” I never gave a “no” answer when a client needed my help with something. I was passive in my job, but ironically… it was this same passive approach got me the “employee of the year” award. I was shocked.

The moral of this story is simple – know what you can and cannot do. If a customer request is outside of your job description. I suggest that you kindly explain that you can’t do the services they want you to do. This will save you a ton of time and effort and will free up your day for more important things to do.

Now you must provide good customer service, but for the most part, if you can’t do a duty requested by someone, be upfront and tell them. Don’t be afraid like I was (I was young at the time). Be bold and tell your client the reason why you can’t help them.

This will also give you a higher level of respect. It makes you seem like you know what you’re doing, and people will trust your recommendations because of it.

This marketing nugget is something that took me a long time to learn. Gladly, I have my own business now, and things are a lot different about who I listen to and what my overall decision will be. It’s the closest thing to being the President of the United States.
