Do you ever think about what makes an entrepreneur successful?

It starts with discipline. Your daily routine will set you apart from wantrepreneurs. Successful entrepreneurs start their days the right way. Early.

If you want to succeed, your day should start early.

Get up before 6 am, 5 am is even better. But if you really want to succeed, set your alarm for 4:30 am.

Many titans of the business world rise early.

Indra Nooyi

PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi wakes up at 4 am.

Jeff Immelt

GE CEO Jeff Immelt gets up at 5:30 am for a cardio workout while he reads the papers.

Ursula Burns

According to Yahoo Finance, Xerox CEO Ursula Burns gets up at 5:15 am.

Bill Gross

Pimco Cofounder Bill Gross wakes up at 4:30 am and is in the office by 6.

Early mornings offer energy and focus you need to tackle your most important tasks.

If you are a night owl, you need to change your sleeping habits. According to a recent study published in the American Psychological Association journal, Emotion, early risers are happier than night owls. It seems that the older you get the more important it is to rise early. Renee Bliss, who led the study, said that older adults reported higher levels of positive feeling, the earlier they got up. [adrotate group=”4″]

“Morning people” reported feeling happier and healthier than night owls.

Another study done by the University of Education in Heidelberg, Germany showed that early birds are more proactive than evening people.

It makes sense that “morning people” do better in business.

As an early riser it will be easier for you to adapt to life’s “schedule”. University of Toronto researchers found that “evening people” are more prone to “social jet lag”, in which an individual’s biological clock is “out of sync” with social activities.

Entrepreneurs that are early risers are more awake, happier and more motivated to tackle challenges.

What time you start your day has an impact on your entire day. It influences your effectiveness and your level of productivity.

So, the next time you complain that you don’t have enough time, try waking up at 4 am.

One more thing about rising early. Don’t cheat.

You need eight hours of sleep. Staying up until 2 am and waking up at 4:30 am is a recipe for disaster.
