1. Be Clear & Concise
Be clear about your content, ad medium, and target audience. As a marketer, you must create value for our ideal audience. But who is your ideal audience? What social platforms are they using? Do they prefer to read their content, or is video more their style? Once you figure out who you’re targeting, you must figure out what type of content they consume and how they consume it! Only then will you be ready to create the right content for your target market.
2. Stop Shouting and Start Listening!
Many marketers focus on quantity instead of quality, in terms of getting the message out. Their goal involves throwing their message out to as many people as possible. This may work for billion dollar businesses like Walmart and Amazon, but it won’t work for you. You can shout “I’m here!” till your lungs give out. With this failing strategy not enough people will buy. To make it work, you first have to listen to your target market, then, give them what they want.
Listening is vital to your success – it is the primary way to know the true interests of your customers. When you build your brand, you must know the specific needs of your customers. Then you must clearly communicate how your service or product solves that problem.
One way to do this is through the use of social listening tools. They allow you to watch online discussions in real-time. Then you can talk to your customers directly, and hear what they have to say about your brand or industry. Perhaps you’ll get the chance to answer their questions directly! It is also helpful to listen to your competitors’ customers. They are out there and talking about your competition on public social platforms.
3. Recycle! It’s better for the environment – and your blog!
It’s a great idea to look at your old content and reuse or repurpose it. Review your most popular content and improve it even further. It will enhance your website marketing strategy. If you don’t want to freshen up an old article, at least go back and look for ideas for new content. Often times sections of large posts can have expansive posts of their own.
4. Monitor and Analyze Your Data!
When you take the time to analyze your marketing data, you will manage it more effectively. Patterns will begin to show up. This can be a daunting task at first, but there are tons of tools out there to help you collect and manage this data. Copy and expand on what’s working and cut out what isn’t.
What is your most popular content? What has the most views and, more importantly, the most engagement? Use that content in your marketing. Be sure to automate it! 5. If You’re Not Optimized for Mobile, You’re Missing Out
It’s official, more people are online using a mobile device than there are PC users. Mobile marketing is more important now than ever. If you’re not including mobile, you’re leaving money on the table. Don’t forget where your audience is.
How are they accessing content?
What content do they want?
Where do they want it?
Chances are, they consume your content on their smartphone or tablet. Perhaps waiting in line at the store or while laying in bed. Find the best way to reach your target customer.
The bottom line is this:
Focus your website marketing strategy around your target audience. You must be concise about who your audience is, what they want, and how they want it. Always be checking your data and updating your strategy based on what you see. Do these things, and you are well on your way to having a successful website marketing strategy.
